I'm posting this early notice for a PhD grant that will be available
at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD/CNRS) in Paris for
a 3-yr PhD starting in September. The final selection of a suitable
candidate will take place in May/June but interested students can
contact Olivier Boucher (firstname.lastname@example.org) already
now. See details of the subject below. |
Subject: Monitoring and regionalised inversion of sources of atmospheric aerosols
A global inversion system of sources of atmospheric aerosols has been developed within the MACC European project. It consists of a simplified aerosol model embedded in an atmospheric general circulation model and coupled to a data assimilation system to optimise aerosol sources. The aim of the PhD work is to use the zoom capability of the LMDz model to regionalise this system and optimise aerosol sources over specific regions. Several case studies will be investigated focusing on dust sources, biomass burning emissions, and black carbon aerosols. This PhD requires a degree in atmospheric sciences, robust programming skills and Unix knowledge.
