The National Oceanography Centre (part of the Natural Environment Research 
Council) seeks an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join its Satellite 
Oceanography research team in Southampton to work on Synthetic Aperture Radar 
altimetry and interferometric SAR techniques for wide-swath ocean surface 
current imaging (Wavemill). This appointment forms part of a broader strategy 
by NOC to strengthen its capability in ocean remote sensing.

The position is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years in the first instance and 
extension beyond 2 years may be possible, subject to available funding. The 
post may lead to an open-ended position for exceptional high-performing 
individuals. The salary for this position is in the range of £26,450 to £29,710 
per annum. NERC provide benefits that include a RCUK pension scheme and 
generous leave scheme offering up to 30 days leave and a further 10.5 
Public/privilege days.
