The Weather and Climate Group has a 2 year postdoc position available at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Please check the link below for a position description and details on how to apply. Applications close Friday 15 March 2013, 11:55pm Aus. Eastern Daylight Time - they must address the key selection criteria and MUST be made via the Monash website.

The appointee will conduct research within the Monash Weather and Climate Group in the School of Mathematical Sciences under the guidance of Professor Christian Jakob. The research will investigate the role of clouds over the Southern Ocean with the particular aim to improve their representation in Atmospheric General Circulation Models (AGCMs).

A goal of the position is to use observations and model simulations to identify the causes of model errors in the simulation of Southern Ocean clouds in the Australian Community Climate and Earth System Simulator (ACCESS). After doing so, the successful applicant will design improved representations of the processes identified as poorly simulated and test these improvements in the key applications of the ACCESS model.

Any enquiries should be sent to Prof Christian Jakob (
