Building a new regional earth system model.
We are developing a high resolution model which couples the atmosphere, ocean, waves, land, biosphere and sea-ice on a regional scale. This model advances our understanding of extreme events and the regional budgets of water, carbon and aerosol. The model is suitable for regional climate change simulations and other sensitivity studies. The core atmospheric module is WRF and the core ocean module is ROMS. We are developing a number of regional models in exciting and poorly understood areas such as the Caspian, East Caribbean, Indian Ocean, West Africa and  the Shetlands. We aim to understand new processes. Our work  also has the opportunity of close interaction with insurance and other businesses. You would be joining an active and growing group in Atmospheric Physics with several opportunities for international collaboration and travel. We are looking for a graduate in physical science, maths or engineering with at least a 2.1 Honours degree. Standard research council (NERC,EPSRC)  rules apply so only UK residents or EU nationals who have studied in the  UK for the last 3 years can apply.  Please contact with brief CV Prof Ralf Toumi, r.toumi at

The open day will be held on January 16, 2013, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in room H711C (level 7, Huxley building (180 Queen's Gate), South Kensington Campus
