Postdoc on URBAN CLIMATE CHANGE at Melbourne University and Monash University, Australia
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will join the research groups on climate variability and change at The University of Melbourne (led by Professor Ian Simmonds) and at Monash University (led by Professor Nigel Tapper) under three-year funding from the Australian Research Council. The appointee will assist with identifying and quantifying the human impacts on climate and climate change by exploring day-of-the-week variability (DOWV) in meteorological parameters across the Australian continent. A broad range of statistical approaches will be undertaken to identify robust DOWV signals in data sets (including station data, satellite data atmospheric aerosol data, and ‘reanalysis’ products). The project will also involve the application and development of a suite of sophisticated physical-dynamical models to quantify the role played by various forcing processes, such as waste heat deposition and atmospheric aerosols, in inducing identified intraweek weather variations. The successful applicant will collaborate with researchers from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research and the Australian Universities’ Climate Consortium, as well as international research groups.
This is a three-year full time position
