The Institute for Applied Remote Sensing at the European Academy Bolzano
- Italy (EURAC) is looking for an:
Expert in data analysis and data integration (remote sensing - in-situ -
models) for environmental monitoring

Tasks
The candidate will support our mission to fuse earth observation (EO)
techniques with in-situ measurement networks, proximity sensing and
models in order to develop a framework for an integrated
environmental monitoring and assessment for mountain regions. His/her
activities will focus on:
- Development of robust methods for data integration and data
assimilation of remote sensing and in-situ data in the field of
hydrology (soil moisture, evapotranspiration, snow) and vegetation
parameters (Leaf Area Index, phenology) with the help of models.
- Perform respective data integration activities in two running projects
with a focus on hydrology and vegetation parameters.
- Support the team with methodological expertise in data analysis of
large data sets in the field of meteorology, hydrology and terrain
deformation (time series analysis and extreme-value statistics)

The candidate will take a senior position within our institute including
the responsibility for leading and acquiring projects.

Qualification
- PhD + min. 2 years scientific working experience in the field of data
analysis and data integration of remote sensing data and in-situ data
- Education in hydrology, meteorology, climatology, physics, geophysics
or comparable subjects
- Demonstrated ability to use mathematical and statistical approaches
for data analysis and data integration and proficient expertise in
respective tools (MatLab, R, ...), including programming skills
- Ability in using climate and meteorological large datasets
- Experience in project management and fund raising
- Ability in team working, good communication with users and other
international partners
- Demonstrated ability to write peer reviewed publications
- Very good English ( + good German and / or Italian desirable)

The contract will start as soon as possible and will be issued for 3
