Please find attached a job announcement for a position in

Numerical simulations of turbulent flow around a wing

We are looking for a Meteorologist, Physicist or Engineer.

The University of Tübingen is one of Germany’s top-level research universities, with a broad spectrum of subjects based on long tradition. With its ambitious institutional strategy the University has been successful in the government’s Excellence Initiative.

The Environmental-Physics group at the Centre for Applied Geo-Science, University of Tübingen, Germany, studies turbulent atmospheric flows using automatically operating unmanned aircraft (UAV) and numerical models. Our main interests are the turbulent energy and momentum exchange between the heterogeneous earth surface and the lower atmosphere, and the interaction of turbulent flows with aircraft wings and ground-based structures like wind converters.

The tasks include:
* Performing and analysing numerical simulations using the DLR-TAU-Code

* Further development of methods to generate realistic synthetic turbulence
* Teaching bachelor and master students in exercise and laboratory courses

The ideal candidate fulfils the following requirements:
* Master degree in meteorology, physics, aeronautical engineering, or fluid mechanics

* Good theoretical knowledge of turbulent processes

* Good programming skills

* Experience in numerical methods like Chimera, RANS and LES on unstructured grids

The position can be filled immediately. Initially, the appointment will be for one year, an extension of the contract is possible and intended. Salary will be according to the German public service (TV-L E13), starting at 50 % during the first year. The candidate will be given the opportunity to write a PhD thesis.

In case of equal qualification and experience physically challenged applicants are given preference. The University of Tübingen aims at increasing the share of women in research and teaching and encourage female scientists to apply.

Please send your application (*one PDF file only*, including application letter, statement of research interests, CV, certificates) by e-mail to:
