Forwarded from CLIMLIST... Research Fellow: Climate Modelling for Climate Services Environmental Change Institute, School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford Grade 8: £37,012 - £44,166 p.a. We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow who will drive the implementation of our climate modelling programme and integrate it with research on climate impacts and risks taking place within the Environmental Change Institute. Our climate capabilities span from GCM and regional climate modelling to impacts assessment, quantified risk analysis and decision support. We are integrating these capabilities to provide innovative climate services for science, policy and business. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and take forward our modelling strategy, as well as developing your interdependent research programme. Accordingly, you will have a good publication record and be encouraged to further your research portfolios, publication outputs, and develop your academic career potential. You will also be expected to contribute to teaching on the MSc courses. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Applied Climate Science or a similar related subject. You will also have expertise in programming, operating systems and manipulation of large datasets, as well as knowledge in the underlying science of climate change and impacts. This fixed-term post is supported with strategic funds from the ECI for three years. Whilst the post is advertised at grade 8, we will consider less experienced candidates at grade 7 (£29,249 - £35,938 p.a.), with an appropriate change in the duties, provided they still have excellent research outputs commensurate with their career stage, and demonstrate exceptional potential to contribute to our climate modelling and climate services research programmes.
