HAMTEC Consulting a provider of quality staff to the aerospace industry.

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Remote Sensing Candidate at EUMETSAT. The Candidate will provide support within the Post-EPS Science Team in the Meteorological Division of EUMETSAT, located in Darmstadt, Germany. He/she will be fully integrated in the Post-EPS Science Team and will interface with in-house experts of various disciplines (system, instruments, operations, science).

 

Location: Darmstadt, Germany

Start Date: February 2013

Closing date: 16 November 2012

 

TASKS:

 

The main tasks of the Candidate will be to provide support and advice to the Post-EPS

It is expected that the tasks of the Candidate will include:

  • Refinement of mission requirements in response to expert advice and results of scientific studies,
  • Conduct of scientific assessments related to requirements refinements,
  • Interaction with expert teams and support to the conduct of expert team meetings,
  • Contribution to the development of prototype processors,
  • Assessment of results from scientific studies,
  • Contribution to the instigation of scientific support studies,
  • Generation of technical documents,
  • Participation in reviews.
  • The tasks will evolve as the Post-EPS specifications mature in the coming years.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A university degree in meteorology, atmospheric physics, remote sensing, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the field of remote sensing.

 

Essential Skills

  • Atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum (Ultraviolet to Infrared),
  • Radiative transfer,
  • Familiarity with earth observation systems in operational meteorology and climate monitoring (both remote sensing and in situ systems),
  • Handling and processing of remote sensing data,
  • Very good skills in a higher programming language (e.g. Fortran, C++).
  • The Candidate shall possess good inter-personal skills. He/she shall have the ability to write concise and comprehensive documents
