Forwarded from CLIMLIST... Vacancy: Senior scientist in regional climate ocean modeling at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (Sweden) The Oceanography Unit at the Research Department of the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute seeks a senior scientist (tenure track) to strengthen the expertise of our group in the field of regional climate ocean modeling. The ocean part of an existing regional coupled atmosphere-ice-ocean model will be further developed. The model system will be applied to study the impact of changing climate on ocean processes, to assess climate adaptation strategies and to investigate the attribution of climate change on detected trends in observations. For this aim a dynamical downscaling approach will be performed utilizing results from our regional climate model applied to the Baltic Sea/North Sea or Arctic Ocean which is forced at the lateral boundaries by data from global climate model scenario simulations. By comparing observed and simulated present climate the predictive skills of the model will be assessed and model uncertainties will be quantified. Changes in projections of future climate will be analyzed and uncertainties of scenario simulations will be studied. Applications are due by the 30th of November 2012. Further details about the position (to be based in Norrköping, Sweden) are available at <http://www.smhi.se/en/about-smhi/Work-at-SMHI/Job-opportunities/senior-scientist-in-regional-climate-ocean-modeling-ref-no-2060-1.26801>.
