The National Centre for Atmospheric Sciences (NCAS) and the University of
Edinburgh, United Kingdom seek to appoint a Research Associate in Climate
Extremes in the area of Climate Extremes for an initial period of three
years with a possible extension beyond this. Based within the School of
GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh, you will be responsible for
carrying out research into the evaluation of the current generation of
climate models to realistically simulate mechanisms involved in temperature
and precipitation extremes, and to simulate realistic climatology and
changes in the frequency of extreme precipitation and temperature events
through comparison with appropriate observations. The main focus of the work
will be the European region.

You will form part of NCAS and be expected to collaborate with others in the
National Centre and with others in Edinburgh. You will be a self-motivated
individual with the ability to take responsibility for the research and its
publication in the peer reviewed literature. You will also be expected to
contribute to the generation of research proposals to funding bodies.

You should have expertise in the analysis of climate data, preferentially
from models as well as observations, and a demonstrated interest in Weather
or Climate.
