An MSc in Physics/Maths/Engineering with a strong computer science background and demonstrated ability in developing scientific code (in languages such as Fortran, C++) for science and/or engineering applications is required. A background in Atmospheric Sciences or Meteorology and experience in high performance computing is considered a plus. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. The closing date for applications is 1st December 2012. Postdoctoral research positions
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions with the Canadian Regional Climate Modelling group at Centre ESCER based at University of Quebec at Montreal. The first position will focus on the assessment of climate change impacts on Canadian water resources using an ensemble of Global and Regional Climate Models and their transient climate simulations. The second position will focus on understanding land-climate interactions in the high-latitudes using one or more state-of-the-art Regional Climate Models and available observations.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or related disciplines. Good programming skills (Fortran, C++, Matlab, UNIX) and experience working with Global and/or Regional Climate Models will be definite assets. The candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English and should have previous experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The position is available from 1st January 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and is initially for one year, renewable for another year subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
