Research Fellow in global aerosol and ice nuclei modelling

Fixed term for 36 months

You will pursue a modelling research project, commencing early in 2013, using a 
global aerosol-climate model (GLOMAP and UKCA) under the supervision of 
Professor Ken Carslaw and Dr Ben Murray. The project has two main components, 
both making use of GLOMAP. The first is to model the distribution of aerosol 
from marine sources in the Arctic as part of the NERC funded ACCACIA consortium 
(Aerosol-Cloud Coupling and Climate Interaction in the Arctic). In the second 
part you will estimate the global distribution of various ice nuclei types as 
part of a European Research Council project designed to improve our 
understanding of ice nucleation in the atmosphere.

With a PhD (or an expectation of achieving a PhD shortly) in a relevant area 
you will have proven skills in numerical modelling in Fortran and data 
visualisation software. Experience of developing and running complex numerical 
models and demonstrable commitment to publication of original results at an 
international level is essential to this role.
