5-year Postdoc Position (m/f) (Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany) code no. 2012/KS 10 Regional storms and their marine impactsThe Institute for Coastal Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geestacht in Geesthacht, near Hamburg, Germany, invites applications for a Postdoc Position (m/f) starting at December 1st, 2012 and ending at October 31st, 2017 for the project “Regional storms and their marine impacts”. The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, near Hamburg, and in Teltow, near Berlin, conducts materials and coastal research. You can find more information at http://www.hzg.de.
This project is part of the Cluster of Excellence “Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction” (CliSAP). The main objectives are the characterization of regional storm (polar lows, typhoons, extra tropical cyclones and medicanes) statistics, the determination of the relationship to driving conditions and of the storms’ impacts. Therefore high-resolution global climate model simulations will be analysed for storms in different geographical regions. This will be done both for the last decades and for future climate scenario
simulations. This project is collaboration between the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, the University of Hamburg, the German Weather Forecast Service, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology. The position is located at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany.
