Forwarded from CLIMLIST... The Department of Environmental Studies invites applications for one tenure track position at the assistant professor level starting August 2013. A Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Climatology or Physical Oceanography is required. An ability to teach undergraduate courses in climatology and atmospheric science, and introductory courses in oceanography and Earth systems science is necessary. Evidence of effective teaching and a commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting is essential. Course load is generally six courses per year. A program of scholarly work is expected. The ability to involve undergraduates in research is highly desirable. A complete application will include a curriculum vitae, official graduate transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy, a research statement, and names of three references from whom we can solicit letters of recommendation. At least one of the references must be able to address the applicant’s teaching ability. For full consideration, all supporting material should be submitted electronically by November 21, 2012.
