TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE GROUP DEPARTMENT OF GEOSCIENCES TENURE-‐TRACK POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT The Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a tenure-‐track position in Atmospheric Science to begin in Spring or Fall 2013. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level; a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will establish an innovative, externally-‐funded academic research program. The candidate will be expected to instruct graduate coursework in atmospheric dynamics, synoptic and/or mesoscale meteorology, instruct introductory atmospheric science courses, and direct M.S. and Ph.D. student research. Applicants whose research program can contribute to University strategic priorities in areas such as hydrology, wind energy and climate are desirable. Additional consideration will be given to applicants that possess, or demonstrate exceptional promise of attracting external research funds. The Atmospheric Science Group web site (<www.atmo.ttu.edu>) describes the laboratories, facilities and current research programs in the Group. TTU has assembled a unique array of capabilities for observation and simulation of the atmosphere (e.g., the TTU High Performance Computing Center, two mobile high-‐frequency (Ka-‐band) Doppler radars, 24 StickNet in situ observation stations, the 68-‐station West Texas Mesonet, and surface and tower-‐based instrument suites based at Reese Technology Center). A new faculty member would be well positioned to make an immediate contribution to the research and operational community.
