Job Summary : Education and Staff Development Manager
Fixed term for 3 years
The National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) is one of the Natural Environment Research Council's (NERC) research centres. This post will be based in NCAS Directorate within the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds, although some responsibilities of the post are national and will require visits or working outside of Leeds. NCAS is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for a senior position within the NCAS Operational Team. You will be responsible for the development of an education and training strategy for UK wide NCAS staff and postgraduate students in support of the Centre's mission to be a world leading centre for atmospheric science research and will take primary responsibility for the long term operational terms plans to achieve this strategy.
This will involve the strategic development, management, promotion, coordination, evaluation and reporting on a programme of education and training activities. This will include proposals for new education and training activities based on need within the atmospheric science community, as well as developing novel ways for the production of educational content and subsequent dissemination. As such you will be required to keep up to date with external developments in education and training. You will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of elements of the programme.
With a PhD in atmospheric (or related) science and a high level of research and analytical skills you will have a demonstrable interest in developing and delivering education provision. You will also have the ability to contribute at a senior level to strategic planning. Motivation, excellent organisational, communication, and team working skills are essential for this role.
University Grade 8 (£37,012 - £44,166 p.a.)
