Human activities as well as nature produce large amounts of trace compounds which influence the chemical composition of the atmosphere and earth's climate.

Experimental field studies, simulation experiments and model calculations are used to investigate the processes that control the chemical transformation, spatial distribution of trace compounds, and their ultimate removal from the atmosphere.

 

The Institute for Energy and Climate Research, Troposphere (IEK-8) at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH seeks for a

 

Postdoctoral RESEARCH SCIENTIST (f/m)

within the High Definition Clouds and Precipitation for Climate Prediction HD (CP)2 initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Your Job

·           Handling and analysis of the remote sensing measurements of clouds, wind and thermodynamic properties at the Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution (JOYCE)

·           Reconstruction of consistent observational strategies with the atmospheric modelers

 

Your Profile

  • University degree and PhD in atmospheric physics or related subjects
  • Interest and experience in satellite or ground-based remote sensing
  • Track record of cloud physics and/or accomplishments in atmospheric radiative transfer
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of German or proven ability to quickly learn a new language
  • Well-structured and systematic working method
  • Willingness to travel internationally (collaboration with other institutes)
