Applications are now invited for a postdoctoral position located on the campus of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in Palisades, NY to examine associations between climate and severe convection, including hail, lightning and tornadoes. This project includes researchers from Columbia University (the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and LDEO's Ocean and Climate Physics Division). Statistical methods, physical understanding and data from models and observation will be used to investigate the variability and predictability of severe convection phenomena. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in in atmospheric science, meteorology, oceanography or related fields. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in at least one and preferably more of the following areas: mesoscale meteorological phenomena, regional climate, severe weather, atmospheric convection. Experience with statistical analysis of large data sets.
