The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary science team from TAMUCC, Purdue University and the University of California - Davis, to develop retrieval/simulation algorithm for airborne Global Positioning System (GPS) radio occultation measurements. The second phase of the work will be collaborating with the modeling group at UC-Davis to evaluate the impact of airborne RO measurements in hurricane prediction through data assimilation. The candidate will also have opportunity to collaborate with GPS experts at Jet Propulsion Laboratory and UCAR. The candidate should have a recent Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field; have experience with electromagnetic wave propagation and theory of optics; and possess excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
