The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research is a research 
partnership between CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology.  The Centre currently 
has an exciting career opportunity for a talented and experienced Research 
Scientist to join the Chemistry & Aerosols Team of the Earth System Modelling 
Program and apply the Australian Community Climate and Earth-System Simulator 
(ACCESS), a global climate model, with a focus on modelling atmospheric 
chemistry and its interaction with other processes in the Earth System.

Specifically you will:

  *   Participate in the development and application of the ACCESS model, with 
a focus on the atmospheric chemistry component of the climate model.
  *   Advance the atmospheric modelling and chemistry science research areas, 
with a view to earth systems modelling and climate applications.
  *   Develop and evaluate chemical schemes, chemical and physical processes 
and emissions needed to drive the ACCESS model.

Location: Aspendale, VIC

Salary: $89K to $96k plus up to 15.4% Superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite/Ongoing

To be successful you will have:

  *   A PhD in science or an equivalent field, and demonstrated experience in 
modelling atmospheric chemistry and aerosols at a global scale.
  *   A good understanding of the climate system, including processes, 
emissions and observed changes.
  *   Demonstrated ability in data analysis and model evaluation techniques 
involving large atmospheric composition datasets.
  *   Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux based computer systems, related 
scripts, and well-developed programming skills in modern FORTRAN.
  *   Effective written and oral communication skills including an ability to 
publish quality scientific papers in international journals, make scientific 
presentations, write reports and work effectively with colleagues and 
collaborators in order to meet project goals and timelines.
