The Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change (<www.wegcenter.at>) is filling the position of a University Assistant with Doctorate / Assistant Professor (40 hours a week; fixed-term employment for the period of 6 years with qualification agreement) (<www.uni-graz.at/en/igam7www/igam7www_aktuell/igam7www_jobs.htm#sci>) Job specification: • collaboration in the Atmospheric Remote Sensing and Climate System Research Group of the Wegener Center and team leader in the area of GPS atmospheric sounding and climate • independent and collaborative research and dedicated publication activities in this area • participation in teaching, by independent lecturing and in the supervision of bachelor, master and doctoral theses in the areas of atmosphere, climate and remote sensing • participation in and partially lead of national and international research projects • participation in the self-administration in the Wegener Center and other University entities Professional qualifications: • doctorate/Ph.D. in the natural sciences, preferably in the field of geophysics or meteorology • research experience in the area of GPS atmospheric sounding and global climate analysis • teaching experience in the area of atmosphere and climate physics and remote sensing • experience in funding acquisition and in leading internationally integrated research projects • experience as team leader, especially also in internationally composed teams • fluency in English and experience in publishing papers in English Personal profile: • ability to perform independent research as well as to lead research teams • responsible work style, ability to work under pressure, and distinct problem solving skills • strong dedication to scientific excellence and ability to also inspire collaborators and students • leadership and organizational competence and joy of working with people in an internationally oriented environment Salary level: According to the salary scheme of the “Universitäten-Kollektivvertrag” (wage agreement) in Austria: A2 Minimum salary: The minimum salary according to the applicable salary scheme/ general wage agreement is € 4004.70 gross salary per month (14 times per year).
