Catastrophe Risk Analyst – RMS Zurich (Graduate position)

RMS is the world's leading provider of mathematical models and software for the
quantification and management of catastrophe risks. The RMS models and
consulting services are used by hundreds of insurance and reinsurance
companies, hedge funds, corporations and governments to assess a wide-range of
natural and man-made perils such as hurricane, earthquake, flood, windstorm,
terrorism and disease pandemic.

RMS is now hiring for its Risk Analyst (RA) Graduate Training Scheme, which
lies within the RMS Client Development organization. This scheme is designed to
be preparation for a career in risk management, by providing a solid grounding
in approaches to catastrophe risk quantification and management for the
insurance industry and capital markets. It is a twelve month scheme, followed
by permanent employment.

The scheme includes four to six weeks of structured training, and secondments
through various RMS teams. A secondment to the global product service team
involves training on RMS’s key products and services. There is also potential
for a client placement. The structured training is delivered by a number of RMS
colleagues, including Executive team members, group leads and previous
graduates of the Training Scheme, all of whom have particular areas of
expertise and knowledge. The training typically takes the form of presentations
with follow-up projects and exercises. The client placement would involve the
opportunity to work on-site with an RMS client, joining their teams of
catastrophe modelling staff, and would include first-hand experience of how
RMS’s clients employ RMS technologies within their underwriting, portfolio
management and capital allocation processes.

After successfully completing the training, the RA will be transitioned into
the Zurich regional service team to support the Account Managers in their
tasks. The RA will have exposure to clients and will develop a deep
understanding of both RMS products and models in the area of Natural
Catastrophes, pandemic disease and man-made disasters, and also of the
insurance and reinsurance industry. The RA will advise clients on the
applications and usage of RMS models, applications and services, answer client
questions, ensure client satisfaction and will coordinate interactions
internally and externally.
