Stratospheric Network for the Assessment of Predictability (SNAP) Project Manager position

Closing date: 25th July 2012

We need an ambitious and talented scientist to manage a new international research project on stratospheric predictability and its potential benefit for weather forecasting. The project will design and run the first major international experiment on stratospheric predictability and is supported by both the World Climate Research Program, Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate project and the Working Group on Numerical Experimentation.

You will need to combine a detailed understanding of atmospheric predictability and forecasting with the ability to manage a large project with international partners in five countries. The job will be varied and challenging and requires both scientific and project management skills. The project will also involve significant amounts of international travel to visit partner institutes.

We welcome applications from both experienced researchers and early-career scientists with bachelors or masters degrees in Meteorology looking to gain experience of working in a research environment.
