The Institute of Geography of the Faculty of Applied Computer Sciences
of the University of Augsburg invites applications for a life-time
position as a

Professor (W2) for Geography of Water Resources

beginning October 1st, 2012.

The holder of the position should have an international research
reputation in the fields of balance, availability and use of water
resources under changing environmental conditions. The successful
candidate should contribute to an enhancement of the thematic column
“Hydrology” being represented by the University of Augsburg within the
framework of the Environmental Research Station UFS Schneefernerhaus.
Furthermore, the holder of the position is expected to take part in the
Environment Science Center WZU at the University and in other scientific
networks.

Teaching duties comprise 12 academic hours per week during semester
times, related to all study programs in Geography with special emphasis
on the new master programs in Climate and Environmental Sciences as well
as in Geography. Additionally, a participation in the academic
self-administration is expected.

The successful candidate will have a university degree and relevant
pedagogical experience, hold a doctorate, and have a strong research
record that includes post-doctoral work (Habilitation) or equivalent
academic achievements, e.g. research conducted as part of a successful
assistant professorship. As this position is afforded civil servant
status, applicants cannot be older than the age of 52 at the beginning
of employment. Exceptions from this age limit are only possible in
exigent cases (Art. 10 Par. 3 Clause 2 Bayrisches Hochschulpersonalgesetz).

The University aims to increase the number of women in research and
teaching and therefore strongly encourages female researchers to apply.
Preference will be given to disabled applicants in the case of equal
qualifications.
