DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF READING

Closing date for Applicants: 22 June 2012
Start date: On or before 1 October 2012

Applicants are invited for the following PhD studentship

THE GENERATION OF DOWNWIND RAINBANDS BY MOUNTAINS

which is part of a larger project called PRESTO (PREcipitation STructures over Orography) which is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council.

Further details of the studentship can be found at:

http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/pg-research/further_particulars_PhD_PRESTO.pdf

or by emailing the lead supervisor: Dr Suzanne Gray s.l.gray@reading.ac.uk

More information on how to apply for the studentship, including details of the Department's PhD programme can be found at

or by emailing phdinfo@met.reading.ac.uk

Applicants should have, or expect to soon obtain, at least an upper second class degree in physics, mathematics or closely related physical or environmental science. Candidates with a lower class of degree, but a good performance at Masters level in a relevant subject will also be considered. No prior knowledge of meteorology is required.

This studentship is fully funded (including a maintenance grant of about £13,500 per year, and University fees) for UK and EU students who are resident in the UK. A fees-only studentship would be available to non-resident EU students. Funding is NOT available for non-EU students.
