Please kindly announce for the vacancy positon for RIMES Regional Facility, Asian Institute of Technology campus, Pathumthani, Thailand. Please find the following detail.



Position Title:      Programmer

 

Open Period:        1-15 February 2012

 

Position Description:

The Programmer, reporting to the Technical Specialist, System Analysis and Development, assists in the design, development, and prototype implementation of hydro-meteorological forecasting systems; data management and analysis modules for meteorological, hydrological, and socio-economic impact data; and in other system development projects. 

 

Duty Station:  RIMES Regional Facility, Asian Institute of Technology campus, Pathumthani, Thailand

 

Type of Contract: One-year project-based contract, renewable

 

Remuneration and Benefits:

·         Monthly base salary negotiable, commensurate with qualifications

·         Housing allowance

·         Health, life insurance

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge:                      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, mathematics, or other related disciplines; understanding of hydrology, climate science, and geoinformatics.

Experience:                      At least 5 years experience in Unix/Linux operating systems, and design, implementation, and management of geospatial databases; familiarity with programming tools like Visual Studio, MS Visio, UML, and Open Source products and standards, especially those relating to geospatial Mapserver, Open Layers, GML, WCS, WFS, WMS, etc.

Skills and Abilities:        Demonstrated ability to develop numerical codes from mathematical equations in Fortran, C++, COM C++, C, PHP, and AJAX; competency with MySQL, XML/XSLT and/or Access preferred; excellent English proficiency in communication, presentation, and report writing; ability to produce technical reports on deadline

Personal Qualities:         Excellent inter-personal skills; strong desire to learn and undertake new challenges; a creative problem-solver; willingness to work hard and for long hours and under pressure
