Junior Science Engineer
NOAA NESDIS ESPDS
Suitland, MD


I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG), www.imsg.com, a Federal Government
Contractor in a request to provide a bid for a proposal, will be seeking
to submit resumes for a Junior Science Engineer to work at NOAA's
National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (NESDIS)
division, Environmental Satellite Processing and Distribution System
(ESPDS) located in Suitland, MD.  The candidate will provide science and
engineering support for the next generation NOAA weather satellites
using industry standard software engineering techniques as well as
working with NOAA government staff to coordinate science products,
algorithm development, and science processing within the ESPDS Development.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:
*3-5 years' experience with real-time and off-line processing of
satellite data
*Science algorithm development and integration
*Image processing including mapping projection and content
classification, and imagery data formats such as NetCDF and McIDAS
*In depth knowledge of Computer Science: operating system internals,
code optimization, numerical analysis, and multidimensional trees structures
*BS or greater degree with formal course work in Meteorology, Aerospace,
Physics, and Computer Science.
*3 to 5-plus years of multidisciplinary technical experience with Earth
satellite systems from science algorithm integration through data
dissemination.

Desired Skills:
*Industry standard word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation packages
*Familiarity with Service Oriented Architectures (JBoss), Java, IDL,
multiprocessing, cloud computing, clusters, and Oracle database
functionality
*Excellent communication skills
