Senior Associate/ Economist

The Position

Minimum Qualifications:

MA/MBA with a minimum of eight years of experience OR PhD with 8 years of 
experience plus a minimum of five years working with/in developing countries.

Job Responsibilities:

The company seeks a Sector Advisor/Economist for a full time position within 
the International Economic Growth Division.  The Sector economist must have 
experience in conducting or familiarity with most of the following technical 
and management capabilities:
Low emissions economic planning and strategies for developing countries to 
decrease the rate of growth in greenhouse gas emissions from alternative 
economic development policies, enhance climate resilience, and maintain the 
development goals of these countries;
Macro and/or micro-economic climate change modeling expertise with emphasis on 
sector and environmental costs of climate change policy impacts on developing 
and emerging market economies;
Cost benefit, marginal abatement, and/or cost-effectiveness analysis 
capabilities as it pertains to low emissions mitigation and adaptation options 
for developing and emerging market economies;
Sector economics and impacts from alternative low emission growth strategies on 
income, employment, the environment, gender and marginalized populations in 
developing countries; and,
Managing economic analysis and climate change impact analysis teams for 
developing countries.

Skills Prerequisites:

Additional qualifications for the position include:
MA/MBA with eight years of experience or PhD with 8eight years of experience or 
the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Graduate level degree in Environmental Economics or Cost Benefit Analysis;
At least 8 years of relevant experience in economic modeling and policy 
analysis, data collection, or policy reform in energy or natural resource 
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in developing country contexts;
A minimum of 5 years of climate change economic analysis expertise;
Ability to lead economic analysis teams and prepare analysis reports in 
developing countries;
Demonstrated effective communication, management and customer service skills in 
complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and cultures.
Experience with United States Agency for International Development, 
Environmental Protection Agency and/or Department of Energy is preferred.
