Forwarded from CLIMLIST... Applications are invited for one postdoctoral research position at the Georges Lemaître Center for Earth and Climate Research of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium. This position will be open to a highly motivated scientist for one year. Renewal will be possible for another period ending at the latest on 31 October 2013, subject to satisfactory performance. The general project is on modeling the interglacials of the last one million years, with a special emphasis on those before 500,000 years BP and on the monsoon systems' behavior. This research is part of an advanced research grant from the European Research Council. For project background, see <http://www.climate.be/modx/index.php?id=84>. More specific work will be on the atmospheric response to changes in boundary conditions such as sea surface temperature and ice sheets during interglacials. Skills in programming and use of climate models are necessary. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have knowledge of atmospheric dynamics and possibly experience with coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation models. He/she will collaborate with other scientists within and outside the Institute (e.g. other laboratories using models for paleoclimate simulations) and to present results in peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. The net salary will be for a postdoctoral position amounting to approximately two thousand Euros per month depending upon the qualification and experience. This includes health insurance and is free of taxes. Expected date for entry on duty: as soon as possible. If you are interested in this position, please submit a C.V. along with contact details of, at least, one professional referee via email to <firstname.lastname@example.org>.
