Excerpt:

Postdoctoral fellow in climate dynamics 2011/11282, Geophysical Institute, University of Bergen

The successful candidate will work with quantifying variability and trends in storm-tracks in mid-latitudes. In addition to exploring natural variability we will also focus on how mid-latitude storm-tracks respond to global warming by investigating climate projections simulated by Global Climate Models (GCM). The scientific focus will be on how large-scale air-sea interaction affects the variability and changes in storm-track properties.

Candidates must have experience and good knowledge in atmospheric dynamics and also be able to use mathematical methods applied in this field. We also require that the successful candidate has some experience in climate analysis, particularly with gridded datasets. It is an advantage if the candidate has experience with global climate models. The candidate will work in a lively research environment and should have good team working skills.
