Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Cloud and Boundary Layer Dynamics
A postdoctoral research position in cloud and boundary layer dynamics is available at the California Institute of Technology. The research will make innovative use of large-eddy simulations and general circulation models to develop new and improved ways of representing the turbulent dynamics of clouds and boundary layers in climate models, with the ultimate goal of constraining the magnitude of important cloud-climate feedbacks.
The position is for two years, contingent on progress in the first year and the availability of funds. The postdoctoral researcher will be funded through Caltech's Terrestrial Hazard Observation and Reporting Center (THOR) and will collaborate with Tapio Schneider and Joao Teixeira. Candidates should have a recent PhD in the atmospheric or oceanic sciences, fluid dynamics, physics, or a related field. Experience with numerical models of fluid flows is desirable. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. Please forward a curriculum vitae, a short statement of research interests, and the names and email addresses of three referees to Nora Oshima, email@example.com.
The California Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and encourages applications from women, minorities, veterans, and disabled persons.
