The University of Miami Department of Geography and Regional Studies
seeks a Medical Geographer at the rank of Assistant Professor with interests in one or more of the following areas: environmental health, spatial dimensions of infectious or chronic disease, climate-health interactions, or water-quality issues. Candidates should be broadly trained in the physical and social aspects of human-environment interactions. We seek someone who will realize synergies with other disciplines and academic centers at UM including the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy and the Miller School of Medicine. We expect that the person will have a strong research focus and will be capable of teaching introductory and upper-level courses in environmental geography, environmental policy, and quantitative methods (including statistics), as well as contribute to our GIS Certificate Program. We will also be highly receptive to applicants who have interest and experience in environmental issues as they pertain to Latin America. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Geography or a related discipline at the time of appointment and must submit a curriculum vitae, a maximum of three sample publications, a statement of interest that outlines his/her research and teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. S.
