TENURE TRACK POSITION IN CLIMATE MODELING

Department of Geological Sciences, Brown University

The Department of Geological Sciences at Brown University announces a
tenure-track faculty position in climate modeling. We seek to integrate
climate and paleoclimate modeling as a component in our Earth System
History research group, which is a leader in the use of multi-proxy
records to understand climate change and environmental response from
deep time through the present. We invite applications from climate
modelers with fundamental training in ocean, atmosphere, and/or climate
dynamics and who could enhance Brown’s strengths in paleoceanography,
paleoclimatology, biogeochemistry, environmental change, planetary
processes, and regional climate modeling and prediction. Experience in
the application of climate system models and/or models of varying
complexity to paleoclimate problems is preferred. This appointment will
have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in Brown’s Center for
Computation and Scientific Visualization, Department of Applied
Mathematics, Center for Fluid Dynamics, Environmental Change Initiative,
Center for Environmental Studies, and the Marine Biological Laboratory
at Woods Hole. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an
active, externally funded research program and enjoy a commitment to
teaching ?at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Appointment is
expected at the Assistant Professor level. However, applications and
nominations of exceptional candidates at higher ranks will also be
considered.

To apply, please email in PDF format a letter of interest addressed to
Jim Russell (Chair of the Search Committee), a current CV, statements of
research and teaching interests, and contact information for at least
three references to ESHsearch@Brown.edu. Applications must be received
by Dec. 16, 2011, in order to receive full consideration, but the search
will remain open until the position is closed or filled. A Ph.D. is
required at the time of the appointment. The anticipated start date of
the position would be July 1, 2012. For more information visit
