Dear all,

In frame of the project INCA-CE (http://www.inca-ce.eu), funded by the European Union, a working stay for an external expert of about 2 -3 months at ZAMG, Vienna, Austria, is announced.

The INCA-CE project aims at reducing the adverse effects of high impact weather events by improving the nowcasting system INCA with special emphasis on applications in civil protection (e.g. thunderstorms), hydrology (e.g. flash-floods) and winter road maintainance (e.g. icing, fog). The offered working stay focuses on the improvement of the INCA system for applications in road weather forecasting, where an accurate forecast of surface temperatures is crucial for an adequate prediction of road conditions.

Qualified candidates must have completed a Master's Degree in meteorology. The ideal candidate should be interested in atmospheric science, in applying analytical and computational mathematical methods to physical problems, and have experience with numerical modelling and programming (Unix/Linux, Shell, C, Fortran). Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) to work in our international environment is required.

The duration of the working stay is planned to be between 2 and 3 months, starting as soon as possible. The lump sum remuneration of the work will be between 2 000 and 2 500 EUR per month, depending on the qualification of the successful candidate.

We will start evaluating applications from September 08, 2011, onwards until filled.

Please send your application with CV to alexander.kann@zamg.ac.at
