The Centre for Climate Research Singapore is dedicated to the understanding of Southeast Asia’s complex tropical climate and weather systems. With core funding from the Singapore Government and affiliation with the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), the Centre is in an exciting start-up phase. The Centre aims to chart a course through the challenging area of climate science and modelling to better understand local and regional climate patterns and predict future climate changes.

We are seeking a Director who can spearhead the establishment and capability-building of the Centre over 5 years, and guide climate and weather research to a high level of excellence. We invite Ph.D. candidates combining strong leadership ability with a strong policy and research record in climate science, tropical meteorology and monsoon meteorology. You will help the Centre build up its capabilities in climate and seasonal modelling and prediction, numerical weather prediction, and tropical climate and weather research of impact to Singapore and the region, as well as provide intellectual guidance to a team of researchers. You will also oversee the Centre’s public outreach and communications. The Centre will be expected to broaden its local and international links with other renowned climate research centres.

The ideal candidate should be someone who has a good standing in the international climate science community, proven experience in setting up a renowned centre or programme, and familiar with the latest developments in the field of climate research and modelling.
