Two funded postdoctoral positions are available focusing on understanding the exciting and quickly evolving area of interactions between the biogeochemistry of the methane and nitrogen cycles and climate.  The successful applicant will work on interdisciplinary projects that are relevant for predicting human impacts on biogeochemistry and climate, and involving predictions of future climate.  The work will involve modeling the nitrogen and methane cycles and their climate impacts with an emphasis on land and atmospheric processes. One project focuses on the nitrogen cycle, the second project on constraining the emissions nitrogen and methane from land models. These positions can start as early as Fall, 2011 in Peter Hess’s and Natalie Mahowald's groups at Cornell University. The positions requires a PhD in a relevant area. The project involves researchers at multiple institutions with the possibility of travel for collaborations.  For more information on Dr Hess’s and Dr. Mahowald's research, please see:  http://www.bee.cornell.edu/cals/bee/people/hess.cfm and http://www.geo.cornell.edu/eas/PeoplePlaces/Faculty/mahowald/. Applicants should send an email directly to pgh25@cornell.edu and nmm63@cornell.edu, and include a CV and three references. Cornell University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action educator and employer.
