Research Scientist in Hydrological Modelling

CSIRO Land and Water is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in
Hydrological Modelling to work within the Water Forecasting and
Prediction Team of the Surface Water Hydrology Program. In this ongoing
position, you will work closely with personnel from the Bureau of
Meteorology and other agencies as well as other groups within CSIRO.

Specifically you will:
. Conduct innovative research on statistical and hydrological modelling
for ensemble streamflow forecasting, including calibration/downscaling
of numerical weather and climate predictions, inference of hydrological
model parameters and prediction uncertainty, and verification of
probabilistic forecasts.
. Contribute to the development of improved methods of forecasting
streamflow while translating modelling research into operational tools
for use by forecasters.

Location: Highett, VIC

Salary: $86K - $116K p.a. plus up to 15.4% Superannuation

Tenure: Indefinite/Ongoing

To be successful you will have :
. A PhD degree/and or equivalent research experience in science or
engineering
. Demonstrated high level expertise in statistical, mathematical and
numerical modelling for hydrological applications
. Scientific creativity shown by a track record of original, independent
and innovative research
. Effective written and oral communication skills, including
demonstrated experience in publishing papers in scientific journals and
presenting materials at client workshops, scientific conferences and to
more general audiences.
  Salary level will be commensurate upon candidates experience within
the range of $86K to $116K p.a.
