The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking a scientist to participate in research associated with the development, evaluation and application of the POAMA dynamical prediction system to a range of marine applications, including coral bleaching risk in the Pacific. The scientist will contribute to research on the mechanisms, predictability and causes of seasonal variability in the marine environment and their representation in the POAMA forecast system. The appointee will have a scientific research background in physical sciences, preferably with experience in climate variability or ocean modelling. This position (reference number: 10337) will be part of CAWCR, a joint research centre between the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and the CSIRO (<http://www.cawcr.gov.au/>). The appointment is for 2 years at the Professional Officer 2 level ($69,729 – $78,157 per annum, plus an additional 15.4% superannuation).
