The University of Arizona Institute of the Environment seeks a highly
motivated research professional or postdoctoral research associate to
work on developing a Southwest Region Technical Report, as a short-term
deliverable to the National Climate Assessment, as well as a stand-alone
assessment document. The report will be the product of a multi-author
effort among many institutions, ranging from Federal agencies, to
universities, to NGOs, to private sector companies. The goal is to
produce a comprehensive assessment of climate change trends, impacts,
vulnerabilities, adaptive capacities, and mitigation and adaptation
solutions, for a six-state region that stretches from California in the
west, to Colorado and New Mexico in the east. The successful candidate
for the position will assist in coordinating authors, editing chapters,
managing a review process, and conducting scientific research.

The successful candidate will work closely with Gregg Garfin
(CLIMAS-Climate Assessment for the Southwest/University of Arizona
<http://www.climas.arizona.edu> - <http://www.environment.arizona.edu>),
and members of the Southwest Climate Alliance, a multi-institution
climate science collaborative for the Southwest
(<http://www.southwestclimatealliance.org>).

Depending on experience, you can apply for the position as either a
Postdoctoral Research Associate, or Assistant Staff Scientist.  Salary
also depends on experience, $48,000-$60,000.

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Ph.D. in a field relevant to the research and coordination efforts, such
as environmental sciences, geography, climatology, water resources and
hydrology, economics, public policy.

Assistant Staff Scientist
M.A./M.S. in a relevant field and 10 years of experience in
environmental writing and editing, with a demonstrated focus on climate.
