The faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne invites applications for a tenured position as a

Professor (W2) in Meteorology (Weather Research)

The successful candidate will have an internationally established research record in the area of weather research. This includes work on the fundamental understanding of physical processes relevant to numerical weather prediction and their integration into appropriate models. Possible research fields are atmospheric dynamics and predictability as well as parametrization development. A close link to the Collaborative Research Centre “Patterns in Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Systems: Monitoring, Modelling and Data Assimilation” (www.tr32.de) is desirable.

Active participation in all teaching programs of the Institute for Geophysics and Meteorology (www.geomet.uni-koeln.de) and in the framework of the Cologne-Bonn Master on Physics of the Earth and Atmosphere is expected particularly in the areas of synoptic and dynamic meteorology.
