The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences – Department of Landscape Architecture is offering a position for a Research assistant in Landscape planning directed towards modeling of spatial processes. We seek a highly motivated research assistant to work with systems design and programming, and to some extent also modeling, of spatial processes in a GIS environment. The research assistant will work in the group lead by Professor Kristina Blennow. This group is undertaking work to improve knowledge on the interaction between human beings and their environment, and to support planning and decision-making under uncertain and changing conditions, in particular with respect to adaptation to climate change. This environment provides opportunities for collaboration with a large number of groups with complementing qualifications within landscape planning, geography, philosophy, and forestry. The research assistant will work as modeling consultant towards PhD students and researchers at 10% of the working time. The successful candidate will have experience in systems design and programming of spatial process models. Experience and skill of implementation in a GIS environment is essential and mastering of several programming languages is desirable, as is training in climatology, in particular local scale climatology. The PhD grade is desirable. The position will be based at the Alnarp Campus in southern Sweden. The working environment is international and the working language is English.
