TASKS:

 

As a member of the MME team, the Consultant shall provide support to the GMES Sentinel-3 requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation of the GMES Sentinel-3 infrastructure as part of the MME. The duties range from the analysis, design, installation, testing and subsequently maintenance of the MME infrastructure.

This may include the setting-up and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the co-ordination with external service providers.

 

In the performance of these tasks, the consultant shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures.

 

The consultant is expected to write and review requirement specifications and change proposals, prepare procurements, participate in technical inspections and reviews, document the communication and network architecture system design and write evaluation reports, review reports, test reports and overall status reports.

 

The tasks of the Consultant will include:

  • Generate and maintain installation documentation, including layout diagrams,
  • Infrastructure Interface Control Documents, cabling database, network diagrams;
  • Perform engineering budget for the Operational rooms in terms of square meters, power, cooling capacity, etc…
  • Contribute to the definition of the layouts in the operational rooms;
  • Perform the physical installation of infrastructure for the S-3 equipment installation, such as: cables, interface panels, network devices, consoles, racks and furniture. ;
  • Evaluate compatibility of Data protection solution proposed by the S-3 programme with the existing SNI operational system;
  • Liaison with the external providers of SNI H/W and S/W maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions;
  • Maintain the S-3 Requirements Specifications on Operational Infrastructure, covering the building infrastructure and SNI for Data protection aspects;
  • Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews;
  • Provision of support, as required, to critical operations during system commissioning operations.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A University degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years working experience in the field of building infrastructure and Data protection.

Essential Skills

 

  • Server rooms layout design, with optimal occupation of space for racks and efficient usage of resources (power and cooling);
  • Inter-rooms and inter-buildings data connection techniques;
  • Racks installation, cable laying and equipment installation and testing;
  • Electrical power distribution infrastructure;
  • Technical Drawing software packages i.e. MS Visio;
  • Operation of backup and recovery solutions under Symantec NetBackup or equivalent
  • Setting up and maintaining security systems at host, network, fabric and storage level (e.g. firewalls, SSL, encryption)

 

Desirable Skills

 

  • Enterprise environment with local and distributed networks (LANs and WANs) of size comparable to the EUMETSAT ones
  • Unix operating system (Linux, Solaris, AIX)
  • Perl and PHP scripting

 

The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision within the team.

 

 

Security
