Limited-Term (3 years) Appointment in Earth System

Scientist - Assistant Professor

The Department of Earth Sciences, St. Francis Xavier University invites
applications for a limited term three-year (3-year) faculty position in
the area of Earth System Sciences, subject to budgetary approval
starting preferably on August 15, 2011. We seek candidates with an
excellent research record in quantitative environmental sciences. A
strong record demonstrating an ability to acquire external competitive
research funding in climate sciences or related areas from a national
funding agency (e.g. NSERC, NSF), along with a demonstrated commitment
to graduate research formation will be considered an asset. The
candidate should be able and willing to teach Environmental Earth
Sciences courses at the introductory level as well as courses in the
areas of numerical methods, climate dynamics, hydrology, etc.

Housed within the modern Physical Sciences Complex at StFX, the
Department of Earth Sciences is widely recognized for the high quality
of both its research and teaching. All Earth Sciences faculty are
actively engaged in externally funded research programs and the
department has an active M.Sc. program. Applicants should hold a Ph.D.
in Earth Sciences or a related field, submit a curriculum vitae, a
statement of research and teaching interests, and the names and contact
information of three referees, to:
