Dear Colleagues, The Faculty of Earth and Life Sciences of the VU University in Amsterdam and the Fluid Dynamics Laboratory of Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands) have a shared vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher. The two research bodies offer top-level complementary knowledge on the modelling of the land surface and the atmosphere, aided by remote sensing. The position is offered for a period of three years, and is available immediately. The overall goal of the project will be to characterize fires (open biomass burning) in terms of magnitude and burning efficiencies on scales ranging from local to global, and to assess their atmospheric impact. The project is funded by a highly-ranked User Support Programme Space Research grant from the Netherlands Space Office to Dr. Guido van der Werf and Dr. Folkert Boersma.
