The Université catholique de Louvain is seeking 1 research engineer to support 
climate modelling activities. 

Profile
-------

The candidate holds a master or a PhD in sciences and is familiar with general 
circulation models. He / she is highly  motivated, problem-solving oriented, 
responsive, and  with an ability to organise his / her time.  

Previous experience of running large computer codes and model output 
post-processing and visualisation is necessary.   The candidate has a good 
knowledge of Unix environment and shell-scripting, and some familiarity with 
the Mac OS X     environment.  Knowledge of FORTRAN, C and of the statistical 
software R is an advantage. The candidate has a good knowledge of English. 
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.

Job description
---------------

Duties are carried out in the context of two European Research Council 
projects, currently employing 8 scientists. The candidate will provide support 
to set up experiments with general circulation models, solve technical issues 
and post-process experiments. Ancillary duties include 
palaeoclimate-observation database management (in R), web management and 
punctual user help with desktop computers.

The candidate will be employed on fix-term contract. European Researc Council

research agenda and environment, proper to provide a stimulating working 
environment to the candidate for several years at least. 

Environment
-----------

The candidate will be formally employed by the Université catholique de Louvain 
www.ucl.ac.be, within the 'Georges Lemaitre Centre  for Earth and Climate 
Research', located in the multi-cultural town of Louvain-la-Neuve, 
approximately 35 km South of Brussels.
