A postdoctoral position in the storm track study is available from the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill University (http://www.mcgill.ca/meteo), pending budgetary approval. The proposed research aims to extend our understanding of North American storm tracks and their possible changes in a warm climate with specific focus on storms passing through Eastern Canada. More specifically a feature tracking method will be applied to high-resolution reanalysis data and regional climate model output to objectively characterize the climatology, seasonal cycle, inter-annual to decadal variability of North American storm tracks and their changes in future climate. Both physical and dynamical mechanisms will be also addressed. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a closely related field. Research experience in synoptic meteorology, large-scale atmospheric dynamics and various statistics would be an asset. The successful applicant will join the research group led by Prof. Seok-Woo Son and interact with scientists in Montreal region. The position will be initially awarded for a year starting in May 2011, and may be renewed for an additional year. To apply, please send a CV and the names (not letters) of two references by email to firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com>. The review will start on 1st April. http://www.meteo.mcgill.ca/~swson/job.html
