** Internships
at RMS ** Risk Management Solutions (RMS) is the world's leading provider of information related to the financial impact of natural catastrophes. RMS has ~500
employees, and provides services to hundreds of insurers, reinsurers and banks around the world. We have a
team of
35 scientists
in London building mathematical models that predict the distributions of possible damage due to hurricanes, typhoons, severe extra-tropical storms, tornados and floods. We use a combination of observed data, reanalysis data, statistical models and numerical
models. We have a number of
internship positions at our offices in London. There are a various possible projects, related to hurricanes, extra-tropical cyclones, floods and storm-surge. The
ideal candidate would (a) have a strong background in physics, applied mathematics or statistics, (b) be just starting, be working on, or have just finished, a Doctorate in oceanic or atmospheric science, or related discipline and (c) have strong computing
experience, including programming. Strong candidates with a different profile or background would also be considered. We
accept applications from anywhere in the world and in previous years have employed interns from e.g. the US, Canada, Germany, Italy and the UK.
The internships are paid a reasonable hourly rate, involve full-time work 5 days per week in our offices in central London, and typically last around
3 months. Start and end dates and precise duration are negotiable. To submit an application, please email a CV and covering letter to
london.recruiting@rms.com with the title 'summer 2011 internships'. thanks, Steve This message and any attachments contain information that may be RMS Inc. confidential and/or privileged.
