This position is part of the Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research (CAWCR), a partnership between CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology, which is leading the development of an Earth systems model known as the Australian Community Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) for application across a range of time scales from numerical weather prediction to climate change projection. ACCESS is developing capability for simulation of both the global coupled climate system and the climate on the regional scale at finer spatial resolution, with the latter supporting climate change projection suitable for use in climate impacts and adaptation applications. The modelling capability is being developed in collaboration with the UK Met Office Hadley Centre. . Specifically you will: - Solve technical computing problems associated with the ACCESS regional climate model and associated software, including nudging/boundary schemes and underpinning ancillary data files - Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the ACCESS atmospheric model code and options as applied to regional climate simulation - Consult with external modelling groups in order to gain expertise in, and solve technical problems with the ACCESS regional climate model.
